Margitta E. Delaney

Margitta Delaney, loving wife & mother, and treasured friend, died peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2020. She was 81 and resided in West Norriton. Margitta was born in Bamberg, Germany in 1939 to the late Barbara & Kasper Grimm. She married her soulmate, James (Jim) C. Delaney, Jr., while he was stationed with the US Army in Germany in 1959. Margitta traveled to U.S. after Jim’s discharge and they shared 38 years of wedded bliss. She proudly became a U.S. citizen. Margitta worked various jobs and retired from a 20-year career at Solid State Scientific in Willow Grove. Gita, as her friends knew her, loved life with her family, dancing with Jim, bowling with her league teammates, and enjoying the excitement of the casinos with her friends. Surviving Gita are her children, Mary Ann Varela, James Delaney, Eileen Delaney, Thomas Delaney, 6 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Gita will be sorely missed by all and always cherished in our hearts and memories. She is also survived by her siblings in Germany, Irmgard Brech, Georg Grimm, Alma Hohner, Martha Weyermuller, Marianne Kager, Klaus Grimm, and her sister-in-law, Kunigunda Grimm. Despite the physical distance, they were very connected to her. After a private cremation, friends may honor her life and share their fond memories with the family at a public visitation held on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, 101 N. Park Ave (Route 363), Trooper, PA. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or your favorite charity.
