Marian H. 'Peg' Kelley

Marian H. (Peg) Kelley, 95, of Elkins Park, PA passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at her residence surrounded by family.

Marian was born in San Antonio, TX on March 1, 1928, a daughter of the late Marian and Frederick Harsdorf. She was the beloved wife of James E. Kelley, Jr. for 57 years until his passing in 2008.

Peg attended Incarnate Word College (San Antonio, TX), receiving a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She briefly was employed at Bell telephone company, until she married and raised her nine children. She was a renaissance woman, with interests in sewing, crafts, music, culinary and gardening as well as being an avid reader. Her Texas roots remained strong and the flavors of her childhood would decorate our home, show up in her gardens and of course fill up our bellies. During precious phone calls to her sister or mother, her accent would flow in strong and her excitement was infectious.

Marian is survived by her children: John Patrick (Jan Kovack), Ellen Pharo (Larry), Matt, Tim (the late Sylvia Kelley), Genevieve, Kate, Ben (the late Marlene Kelley), Nora (the late Vincent Lopez), and Liam (Lori), as well as 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to her visitation Thursday, August 10th from 9:30-10:45am followed by her remembrance/eulogy at 10:45am and funeral mass at 11am. All of this will be held at St. James Church, 8320 Brookside Rd., Elkins Park, PA 19027. Interment will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. James Church or to the charity of your choice.
