Marianne Crist, age 66, passed away peacefully into God’s loving arms on Saturday April 2, 2022, at Martin Nursing and Rehab in Stuart, FL. Marianne was born in Montclair, NJ on November 5, 1955, to Harold Crist and Margaret (nee Lucas). She grew up in Verona NJ, attended Our Lady of the Lake church and school, was a graduate of Verona High School class of 1973 and then attended Brookdale Community College. Marianne lived in Brielle by the Jersey shore for a time, moved to Florida in 1989 and lived in Vero Beach for 29 years, then recently moved to Port St. Lucie. Marianne loved the water and spent as much time as she could at the beach or Indian River swimming with the manatees Marianne had a passion for helping others. She was a Certified Alcohol and Addictions Counselor at Restoration House in Fort Pierce among others. In December of 2021 she earned her 40 year AA medallion for being clean and sober all those years. She would often go to activities at the Newport Club. Marianne was a Christian and truly showed her love of Christ by the way she lived her life. She attended Greater Faith Church of God. She was very artistic and enjoyed many arts and crafts, including scrapbooking, rock painting and rubber stamping. She also collected antique bottles and ceramics. She enjoyed the many friends she had who shared these activities, including Salvation Army Scrapbooking, Scrapbooking Bunco and Indian River Rocks rock-painting group. Marianne was a sweet, kind and gentle person known for her quiet laugh and ability to overcome obstacles. She had a gift of empathy and compassion for others. She is remembered by her friends and colleagues for her dedication to her clients, her kind heart and sweet spirit. She would give effortlessly even when she didn’t have it to give, “a true disciple”. She is predeceased by her parents, Harold and Margaret Crist; sister, Kathleen Crist; niece Mary Margaret Crist and her late husband Darrell Jackson. More recently she also lost her dear partner and confidant of many years, Donald Cowan. She is survived by her sister, Lorraine Campman (Jonathan) brother, Richard Crist (Karen Long); nephew, Samuel Crist; aunts Margaret Crist Buesser and Rosemary Delahanty Crist; niece, Amber Campman (Ben Kimmel); a grand nephew; and step-son, Joshua Jackson. Lorraine has adopted Marianne’s dog Gracie. Her cat Emma will be re-homed by the Humane Society of Vero Beach.
