Marie Elizabeth Ekstrom

Marie E. Ekstrom (nee Furphy), 96, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022, peacefully at Immaculate Mary Nursing Home in Philadelphia. Marie was born in Camden, NJ on April 25, 1925, a daughter of the late Catherine M. (Curley) and James E. Furphy. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald E. Ekstrom. She is predeceased by her brothers, James E., John J., and Matthew J. Furphy and by her sister Helen (Furphy) Crouse. Marie worked as a press operator and later a shipper for Apex Moulded Products for more than 50 years. Marie is survived by her children; Patricia (Wyremski) Lardon (James), Maryellen (Wyremski) Cekot (Peter), and Ann Marie (Wyremski) Buchanan (William), brother; Joseph L. Furphy, six grandchildren; Kathleen (Lardon) Clothier (Kevin), James Lardon Jr. (Emerita), Christine Lardon, Eileen (Lardon) Gospodarek, Christopher Cekot (Melanie) and Laura Cekot. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Saturday, April 2nd from 8:30 to 9:45 am and her funeral mass at 10 am both held at St. Jerome Church 8100 Colfax St. Phila, PA 19136.
