Marie 'Dot' D. Gemmell

Mrs. Marie D. (Dot) Gemmell, 93, of Philadelphia passed away Friday, February 1st, 2013  peacefully  at her residence on her 93rd. Birthday. Mrs. Gemmell was born in Phila, PA on February 1, 1920, the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Anna V. (Murphy) McGovern. She was a secretary at Iron Workers Local 401 before retiring many years ago She was the widow of William P. Gemmell Sr.. Married on 11-26-1942 and they were married for 37 years. Loving mother of William P. Jr. (Eileen),   Marie (Dottie) Gemmell, Lawrence (Judy), Connie McMahon (the late Ray), Margaret Gemmell (Ron Collins), John (Dorothy), Mary DE Gaetano (Dominic), Terrence (Chris) and the late James (survived by Maureen).  Dot is survived by three sisters Anne Lang, Margaret McGovern and Mary Kokoszka and two in-laws Mary Fox & Gerard McGovern.  She is also survived by 20 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and Friends are invited to her viewing Tuesday February 5, 2013 from 7-9 PM at VISCONTO FUNERAL HOME, 2031 Vista Street Philadelphia (ample parking and handicap accessibility in rear of building) Viewing will also be held Wednesday 9:30-10:20 AM and Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Cecilia Church 535 Rhawn St. Philadelphia.
