Marina Anne (nee Juzwiak) Schmidt passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Einstein Montgomery Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. Born on May 27, 1925, she was precisely 95 1/2 years young when she passed. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was a daughter of the late Joanna (Mroziewski) and Stanley X. Juzwiak, Sr. Marina left home at 18, the youngest in a household of 9, from Miners Mills / Parsons to train as a nurse for a 3-year program at Misericordia Hospital in Philadelphia. Working on night shift, she was proud of the training received. She frequently remarked how satisfying it was to successfully finish nursing school and the difficulty that accompanied completing it. She loved performing nursing duties and the role she played taking care of patients. Marina performed obstetrical nursing in a family practice setting after graduating until marrying the love of her life in 1951, Dr. Harmar William Schmidt. She was a traditionalist and looked forward to transitioning to being a fulltime homemaker and mother. She loved family and the warm embrace that accompanied being together - dinners, vacations, or day trips back to Wilkes Barre. Marina always kept motivated and active. She participated with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Montgomery County Medical Society. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family for dinner parties - and did it well. She was creative with her cross-stitch and fine needle work. In her 60s she returned to school and earned a Bachelors of Arts in French studies from Rosemont College. She actively enjoyed weekly meetings of French club with her friends. Being devoutly Catholic, she was active with church at Mother of Divine Providence. Church was very important to her and she was proudly a founding member of the parish. Marina frequently remarked in later years - I've had a good life. And she remained motivated throughout it to pack as much into that life as she could. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family alike. Surviving are her loving family including her son, Mark F. Schmidt, Sr and his wife, Deborah of Doylestown, PA, two grandchildren: Mark F. Schmidt, Jr. and Heather J. Schmidt, both of Doylestown, PA.; and many other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harmar William Schmidt and her siblings. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at 10:00am, with a Eulogy starting at 9:45am. A graveside service will follow at 2pm at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carverton, PA. Her viewing will be Tuesday night from 6 to 8pm at the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St., Bridgeport PA 19405. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marina’s memory to the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society; memo noted-Montgomery County Medical Society Student Scholarship Fund, 777 E.
