Martin J. O'Gara

Martin J. O’Gara (Marty), 80, of Jenkintown, PA, passed away at home, peacefully, on June 18, 2017. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Maryanna (McGuirk) and 6 children: Michael (Gina Sergio) O’Gara, Bethanne (Anthony) Dippolito, Joseph (Lynn) O’Gara, Timothy (Sara) O’Gara, Maryanne (Steven) Beal and Terrence (Stephanie) O’Gara. Marty is also survived by 16 grandchildren: Courtney, Brianna, Kelsey, Taylor, Connor, Jason, Ryan, Sean, Erik, Peter, Meghan, Skylar, Mallory, Luke, Shealyn, Brent and preceded in death by 2 grandchildren: Halley O’Gara and Shane Ziegler. Marty also leaves behind his sister Ellen (James) Conway. Marty was a Business Manager and employed at Fisher and Porter for 39 years. He was a devoted and active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Parish in Jenkintown, where he was a Eucharist Minister and held various volunteer positions over the years. Marty rooted for the Phillies in both the good times and bad. If you went looking for Marty, you often would find him reading a book, a newspaper, sitting on his front porch or vacationing at Stone Harbor where he and Maryanna owned a duplex for 40 plus years before retiring. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday evening, June 22, 2017, from 6-8 pm at Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home, 507 West Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046, and again on Friday morning, June 23, 2017, at Immaculate Conception Church, 602 West Ave, Jenkintown, PA, visitation time on Friday is at 9:00 AM and Mass at 10:30 AM.
