Mary Rose Ernst

Ernst Mary Rose (Nee Richer), at age 98, of  Philadelphia, PA passed away Monday, September 7, 2015.  Mary was born in Colwyn, PA on January 21, 1917, a daughter of the late Elizabeth J. (McKernan) and Fortuna  Richer. Beloved wife of the late William H. Ernst. Loving mother of Mary Hitchen, William H. Jr., Louis F., Evelyn Koellhoffer and The Late Margaret Duryea. Mary is also survived by 11 grandchildren and the late Bernadette Duryea, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Mary lived in Honolulu, Hawaii for 5 years just before World War II, while husband William H. Ernst worked for the Department of Defense as a weapons instructor. Mary Rose had a lot of fond memories living in Honolulu and gave birth to daughters Mary and Margaret while living there. Mary Rose enjoyed sewing and making quilts for charitable organizations. Family and friends are invited to her viewing 9-9:50AM and funeral mass 10AM at St. Leo the Great Upper Church 6658 Keystone St. Phila., PA 19135.
