Mary-Jo Bernhard died August 10, 2020 with her family by her side at home in Audubon, PA. She was 72 years old. Born September 5, 1947, in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Charles Bernhard and Mary Catherine (McVey) Bernhard. She attended grade school at St. Augustine in Bridgeport, and graduated in 1965 from Upper Merion High School. Mary-Jo was an active mother. She was famous for her handmade Halloween costumes, homemade jelly, and educational family trips. She was a frequent volunteer for public schools and non-profit organizations. After her children left home, Mary-Jo completed coursework at Ursinus and Widener, obtained a securities license, and held several positions within the financial services field. Mary-Jo was an accomplished gardener who turned every backyard she touched into a paradise. She was an avid reader, a regular at People’s Light, and a fan of public television. She was frequently seen around town taking long walks with her beloved dog, Molly. Mary-Jo was a member of St. Teresa of Avila parish. Mary-Jo was a devoted grandmother who found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, Robert Francis Kasprzak. Mary-Jo is survived by her loving children: Yori Joseph (Andrea) Kasprzak, and Lisa (Joseph) Chaya; her loving sisters, Theresa (James) Hill, and Eleanore (Christian) Salisbury; and her loving grandchildren: Haley, Nikolas, Sean (Kasprzak) and Elena, Olivia (Chaya.) A funeral mass will be held September 5, 2020 at St. Teresa of Avila, Trooper, PA. Interment will be private.
