Mary A. (Giannone) Korkus, 86, formerly of Lafayette Hill, PA and Franklin Park, PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at home with family at her side. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Joseph M. Korkus, who died in May of 2017. She was born on October 6, 1930 in Bridgeport, PA and has fond memories working for the Times Herald. She was a loving mother to Christopher (Lisa) Korkus, of Coraopolis, PA; Suzanne (Luis Ruiz) Korkus, of Mars, PA; and Julia Korkus of Norwich, VT. She was a loving grandmother to Derek (Heather) Korkus, Jared Korkus, Alex Korkus and Natalie Ruiz. She is survived by three sisters: Philomena (Dominic) Martino of Norristown, Anne (Francis, deceased) Korkus of Norristown and Rose Kegel of Worcester. She has many other loving family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Michael Giannone and Mario Giannone. Mary was a kind, generous and caring woman who enjoyed reading and working in her perennial flower gardens, but most of all she was devoted to spending time with her husband and family. On Saturday, October 7, 2017, a viewing will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA from 9:00 am to 10:20 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson Street, Bridgeport, PA 19405 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in King of Prussia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Neumann Building Fund, Franklin Park, PA 15237.
