Mary Alice (Carter) Matthews

Mary Alice (Carter) Matthews passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at her son's residence in Ottsville, PA. She was 84. Mrs. Matthews was a 50 year resident of King of Prussia, PA. She worked as a secretary for C.E. Minerals for 30 years. Mary graduated from Norristown High School. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and the Golden Sneakers Club. Born in Phoenixville, PA on January 1, 1931, she was the first baby born in 1931 in Phoenixville Hospital. Mary was a daughter of the late Norman C. and Pauline M. (Beahn) Carter. She was the wife of the late Christian W. Matthews, Jr., who died in October of 2014. Surviving is her loving family including a son, Randy R. Hallman and his wife, Carole, of Ottsville, PA; a daughter, Deborah S. Hallman of Bridgeport, PA; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Ceron and her husband, Diego, of Aurora, CO; and a niece, Barbara Thompson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman C. Carter, Jr. and William B. Carter. Mary's Memorial Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at 10:00 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Carlotta Madison. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 9 to 9:50 am, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.
