Mary D. Mcdowell

Mary D. (Kurcik) McDowell passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in E. Norriton, PA. She was 90. Mrs. McDowell was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. She was a member of the former Our Mother of Sorrows Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and a long time annual festival worker. She was also a member the former St. Augustine R.C. Church, both in Bridgeport, PA. Mary worked for Bell Telephone, National Liberty Life Insurance Co. and AAMCO. Born in Bezovce, Czechoslovakia on August 1, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Karch) Kurcik. She was the wife of the late Willard D. “Mike” McDowell, who died in 1996. Surviving is her loving family including two daughters, Cynthia A. DeMitis and her husband, Dennis, of King of Prussia, PA and Cheryl M. Fontana and her fiancé, Ken Ashton, of Jeffersonville, PA; three grandchildren: Shannon, Christopher and Matthew; one great-grandson, Jeremy; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Trendler; and four brothers: Michael, John, Steve and George Kurcik. Relatives & friends are invited to Mary’s Funeral Mass at the St. Augustine Worship Site, 464 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 11:00 am. Her viewing is Monday morning from 9 to 10:45 am, at the worship site. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Piarist Fathers' Appalachian Mission, PO Box 870, Martin, Kentucky 41649.
