Mary W. Sullivan

Sullivan Mary W. (nee Riess) Peacefully on January 3, 2010 at age 91.  Wife of the late John.  Loving Mother of John ‘Whitey’ Sullivan and Edward Sullivan (Patricia).  Dear Mother-in-Law of Kathleen Sullivan & Carolyn Sullivan.  Devoted Grandmother of Kelly, Ryan, Kristin, Megan, Inian, the late Kevin and Great Grandson Kevin   Mary had incredible loyalty. She attended every Father Judge Football game for 25 years.  If you played football at Father Judge High School between 1974 and 2000 she saw you play.  She may not have known your name, but she saw you play.  She would bundle up in her little wool hats as a septuagenarian and an octogenarian and be the first one to the stadium. She often arrived before the teams.  Father Judge Football used to run her favorite play called the Judge counter.  Whitey says they ran that play 13 times on Thanksgiving Day.     She started her football career as the lady Athletic Director with the old Northeast Village Project after WWII.  As a single Mom in the 1950’s she was way ahead of her time. She was a meat wrapper for Penn Fruit supermarket for 38 years.   Relatives, Friends and members of Our Lady of Consolation Senior Citizens are invited to attend her funeral Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the Walter J. Meyers Funeral Home 6643-45 Torresdale Ave. Phila., PA 19135.  Services will follow at 11 AM.  Interment Hillside Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers donations in her memory to Father Judge High School Football 3301 Solly Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19136-2396.
