Mary A. (Basile) Swon

Mary A. (Basile) Swon passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 9, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at her daughter's residence in Lower Providence, PA. She was 91. Mrs. Swon was a former resident of Norristown, PA and Bridgeport, PA. She graduated from Norristown High School in 1940. She worked for many years as a precision molder in the Bio-Medical industry. She started in 1963 with the Holter Co., Extracorporeal, Johnson & Johnson, Holter-Hausner, Phoenix Engineering and retired from Phoenix Bio-Medical in 1997. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Bridgeport, PA. She enjoyed going to the casinos, playing bingo, working on jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, cryptograms and rooting for the Phillies. Most of all, Mary loved spending time with her family and summers in Ocean City, NJ.Born in Conshohocken, PA on August 25, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Columba (DeSimone) Basile. She was the wife of the late Richard G. Swon, who died in 1999. Surviving is her loving family including five daughters: Maria L. DelMauro and her husband, Ronald, of Bridgeport, PA, Linda A. Esposito and her husband, Daniel, of Bridgeport, PA, Sandra K. Prestia and her husband, Joseph, of Spring City, PA, Elaine L. Meckes and her husband, John, of Lower Providence, PA and Janice A. Bruno and her husband, Aldo, of King of Prussia, PA; seven grandchildren: Maria Lynn, Marsha, Joseph, David, Stephen, Angela and Janice; a great-granddaughter, Natalie Rose; two brothers, Americo "Mickey" Basile of Bridgeport, PA and Silvio Basile of Gilbertsville, PA; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Alex, Mike and Joe; and six sisters: Sadie Ross, Jennie Basile, Marge DiMartino, Helen Eason, Yolanda Basile and Gloria Ciliberto. Relatives & friends are invited to Mary's Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:30 am. Her viewing will be Friday morning from 9 to 10:20 am, at the church.
