Matthew Joseph Roakes, Sr.

Matthew Joseph Roakes, Sr., 35, of Tacony, Phila. PA suddenly passed away Saturday, November 28th, 2020. Matthew was born on November 24, 1985, the youngest of two sons to Arlene (Sorendino) and Michael W. Roakes, of Phila., Pa 19135. Matthew was a 2003 graduate of Roman Catholic High School where he was an All-Catholic defensive tackle on their football team, and was selected to the All-City team in 2003. Matthew also played Ice Hockey and Golf at Roman, as well as being a member of the percussion section of the Roman High School Band. Matthew earned his B.A. from LaSalle University in 2007 and his MBA in Business Administration there also in 2009. Matthew was a member of the LaSalle Ice Hockey Team. Matthew worked in the accounting financial field for many years. Matthew is survived by his wife Abigail Richardson and their loving children Emma Rose and Matthew Jr.; his parents Michael and Arlene (Sorendino) Roakes; brother Michael (Regina) and their twins daughters Alexandra and Annabella; uncle Daniel Roakes; aunt Linda (Sorendino) Toth (Rich); uncle Gary Sorendino (Karen); and aunt Madge Sorendino (wife of the late Joseph Sorendino). Matthew is also survived by his cousins Kristin, Brian & Dan Roakes; Sorendino cousins Gina, Teresa, Maria, Donna, Michael, Joseph, Anthony, Gary, and Lisa, and an extended family and many friends. Family, relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, 7056 Tulip Street, Philadelphia PA 19135.
