Maurice E. “Mo” Fitzgerald age 89, of Audubon, PA, formerly of Havertown, PA and South Hadley, MA. Passed away peacefully on February 7, 2022 in the presence of his daughters. Beloved husband of the late Claire M. (Wonderlin); loving father of daughters Karen Fitzgerald (and her husband Ross Weinberg) and Heather Fitzgerald (and her husband Dan Levine). He is also survived by his grandchildren Rachel Weinberg, Kyle Weinberg, Emily Levine and Samuel Levine. Mo was the son of Maurice Jerome Fitzgerald and Theresa (O’Brien) Fitzgerald of Glencar and Cloughane, Ireland. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings Marguerite Hebert, Donald (Shirley) Fitzgerald, and Jerome Fitzgerald, and nephews Timothy Fitzgerald and Daniel Fitzgerald, and niece Kellie Fitzgerald. He is survived by his sister-in-law Ellen (Bourassa) Fitzgerald, wife of his brother Jay; and many nieces and nephews. Mo grew up in South Hadley, MA, served as an altar boy and attended St Anselm College in Manchester, NH where he studied Chemistry, followed by St John’s University in Brooklyn, NY where he obtained a Master’s degree in Physical Chemistry. He moved to Philadelphia where he worked for ARCO Chemical Company from 1957-1996 where he was a Principal Research Chemist. He met his wife Claire there when they rode in a carpool together. They later wed in 1960 and were married 58 years until her death in 2018. They enjoyed their children and grandchildren immensely, as well as traveling with friends. He was known for his quick wit and a dry sense of humor. He enjoyed watching baseball, playing golf, and later developed a love for billiards. They spent their final years together at Shannondell Retirement Living in Audubon PA.
