Michael Bauman

November 12, 1950 — April 7, 2019

On Sunday, April 7, 2019, Michael Ernst Bauman, loving father of son Marc Bauman and daughter Sarah Bauman, passed away at age 68 from cancer in Royersford, PA. Michael was born on November 12, 1950, in Jackson, Tennessee. He was raised by his mother Mary Alphine McPeake and his adopted father Ralph, E. Bauman, who was an aerospace engineer. Michael grew up with three siblings Kate, Beth, and Ricky. The family resided in Tennessee, Alabama, and Maryland. After high school, Michael enlisted in the Marines and was inducted in Parris Island, South Carolina, during the Vietnam War. In 1974, he enrolled in art school at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where he studied jewelry design and met the mother of his children Karen Orbon. They were married in Towson, Maryland in 1974. Michael’s career after marrying Karen Orbon in art school was varied. He had a premiere crafts gallery in Baltimore, MD. After that, the couple moved to New Orleans, LA where Michael had two businesses and his two children. Then in 1983, the family returned to the northeast, settling in Wayne, PA where he opened his own successful business. Michael and Karen got divorced in 1989. In 1990, Michael married Faith Minnicks Cashdollar. They divorced in 2005. Michael was a man of many talents, and passions. His many interests included visual arts, craftsmanship, design, geology, poetry, and music. Michael was an avid music lover and talented musician. He was known for his sharp intellect, voracious appetite for literature, particularly science fiction and poetry, his quick wit, sense of humor, and infectious smile. He is survived by his son Marc, Marc’s wife Sienna Martz; his daughter Sarah; his stepson Kyle Bailey, Kyle’s wife Kara and their child Rebecca; his siblings Katie, Beth, and Ricky, and ex-wives Karen and Faith. A service will be held to honor and celebrate Michael’s life at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery May 20, 2019, from 11:00 am to 11:30 am. There will be a reception to follow, and details will be announced at the funeral service. Please donate money to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness in lieu of sending flowers.
