Michael Burry passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA. He was 82. Mr. Burry was a lifelong resident of Swedesburg, PA. He worked as a gear specialist for the former Philadelphia Gear Co. in King of Prussia, PA, until his retirement in the 1980's. Michael was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bridgeport, PA. He was a graduate of Upper Merion High School where he was a star athlete who played basketball and baseball. Michael was also an avid bowler at Facenda Whitaker Lanes.Mr. Burry was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He served as a Tech Staff Sergeant from 1951 to 1955.Born in Swedesburg, PA on March 12, 1930, he was a son of the late Ignatius and Catherine (Ewanick) Burry. Surviving is his loving family including two brothers, John Burry of Norristown, PA and Stephen Burry and his wife, Ruth, of Norristown, PA; two sisters, Sophia Murray of Norristown, PA and Katherine Proietto of Palmyra, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Gadzicki. Relatives and friends are invited to Michael's Divine Liturgy at SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 519 Union Ave., Bridgeport, PA on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 10:00 am. His viewings will be Monday evening from 6 to 8:00 pm at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405, and Tuesday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at the church. Interment will be in SS. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Cemetery, King of Prussia.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to SS.
