Michael Kostow passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Meadowood Senior Living in Worcester, PA. He was 92. Mr. Kostow was a lifelong resident of Jeffersonville, PA. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Penn State University and also attended Villanova University. Michael was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving in the China Burma India Theater. Mr. Kostow was a career Pennsylvania State Trooper and rose within the ranks to become Captain of Troop K in Philadelphia. He later served as the Chief Deputy Sheriff for Montgomery County. Michael served the community in his own practice as a Real Estate Broker in W. Norriton Township until his retirement. Michael was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Norristown, PA. He was a proud Ukrainian who volunteered at many community events and was an active member of the Catholic War Vets. Born in Berwick, PA on November 20, 1925, he was a son of the late George and Christina (Slavich) Kostow. He was the husband of the late Margaret H. (Melchiorre) Kostow, who died in December of 2016. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Michael G. Kostow and his wife, Clare, of New York, NY; two grandchildren, Max Michael and Nora Clare; a brother, Steve Kostow and his wife, Jean, of Wilmington, DE; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Relatives & friends are invited to Michael’s Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton St., Norristown, PA on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 11:00 am. His viewing is Tuesday from 10 to 10:45 am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, East Norriton, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675 and/or The Nature Conservancy, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 1000, Arlington, VA 22203-1606.
