Milton Cass Lightner

December 8, 1927 — December 21, 2020

Milton Cass Lightner of Cochranville, PA, originally from Ridgewood, NJ, passed away December 21, 2020 due to congestive heart failure. He was 93. He attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts and then went on to Colby College in Maine majoring in Business Administration and where he was drum major for the college marching band. He was drafted into the Army and served in the occupation of Japan at the end of World War II. He returned to work for the Singer Company as a regional sales manager. He left Singer and eventually retired from Stevens-Miller Lumber in Summit, NJ. After retirement he lived in Toms River, NJ and Pompton Lakes, NJ where he lived with his daughter Ruth and son-in-law Steve Grayberg. The group moved to Cochranville, PA, in 2019. He was married to Hazel Tate Lightner until her passing in 1986. He is survived by his sister, Shirley Lightner Paxton, sons Michael and Milton, daughter Ruth Lightner Grayberg, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He also left a host of beloved nieces and nephews. Cass was a musician, inventor, salesman, and ace problem-solver. His easy going nature and great sense of humor attracted people to him throughout his life. He will be missed. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a non-profit close to his heart, Revival Productions in Coatesville, PA (theater and conservatory).
