Newton Leroy "Roy" "Fig" Schantz Iii

Newton Leroy “Roy” “Fig” Schantz, III, 62, passed away on Tuesday July 4, 2023, in Norristown PA.

Newton was born on June 1, 1961, to the late Newton Leroy Schantz, Jr and the late Mary Lou (Wambold) Schantz.

Roy worked for John Middleton Company for 32 years. He loved the Philadelphia Eagles, Ghost Adventures, Bar Rescue and Wrestling. His biggest passion was rock and roll music, especially Kiss, Metallica, and Iron Maiden. He enjoyed supporting local bands, like Dog Bite Money and Nat Attack.

He is survived by his sisters, Donna Greer (Albert), Sally Horrocks, and Mary Lou Fox; nephews, Brian Platchek and Robert Jones; nieces: Angela (Adam) Arehart, Amy (Jimmy) Southwick, Sara D’Orazio, Jessica Schantz, Laura (Oscar) Cruz and Samantha Fox. He is also survived by many great nephews and nieces.

Newton is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, James D’Orazio; brothers-in-law, Brian Horrocks (Sally) and Doug Murton (Mary Lou).

Family and friends are invited to Newton’s viewing at the Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, 805 DeKalb St. Bridgeport, PA on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 9:00-10:50 am, followed by his service at 11:00 am.

Interment will be private, at a later date.
