Nicola A. (Nick) Saponara, 92, of Philadelphia, PA passed away Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020, peacefully with family in Montgomery County. Nick was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 11, 1927, a son of the late Carmina (Venditti) and John Saponara. He was the widower of Angelina (Scannapieco) Saponara. Nick was a proud veteran of the US Army serving his country during WWII. Nick loved his country and always wore his World War II Veteran baseball cap with great pride. While serving in Germany as a SSGT, he was in charge of a unit ensuring the rebuilding of US Army jeeps. After the war, he continued and graduated from Villanova University and later graduated from Temple University Law School. He was a Lawyer for 40 Years in the Philadelphia region. He loved his family, cooking, music, and he was a master story-teller. Nick is survived by his loving children Sister Mary Saponara, M.S.C., Rita Fernandes (Joseph), Joanne Tyer (Paul), Michael (Chris) and Nicholas (Jean) and grandchildren: Cecilia, Christopher, John, Joseph, Jr., Mathew, Teresa. Brother of John (Victoria) and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. A private Funeral Mass will be held for immediate family at 1:00 PM, on Saturday, April 25th at St. Christopher Church 13301 Proctor Rd. Private Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Services and Interment will be live-streamed at www.meyersfh.com by clicking on his obituary. The viewing and Mass Stream will be approximately Noon untl the end of Mass, and the Graveside approximately 2:45 PM. Services entrusted to Walter J. Meyers Funeral Home, Jenkintown, PA. Social distancing will be practiced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to MSC Mission Advancement at 51 Seminary Ave., Reading, Pa 19605, or Holy Redeemer St. Joseph Manor at 1616 Huntington Pike, Meadowbrook, Pa 19046.
