Nora Ann Cook

September 21, 1930 — November 1, 2016

Nora Norton Cook passed away peacefully after a long illness. She was 86 years old. Born in Wilmington to Nora and Thomas Norton, she raised her five children in New Castle with her husband, John, and returned to Wilmington after John’s death in 1981. Nora was also predeceased by her parents, her sisters Catherine, Elizabeth, and Marie and brothers Thomas and Joseph (her fraternal twin). She graduated from P.S. DuPont high school in 1948. Several of her classmates remained lifelong friends. After raising her children, she went to work at J.P. Morgan bank and retired in 1992. Many happy memories included summer days at Lewes and Dewey beaches with her sisters, children, and grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Nora Miller (Michael), Nancy Cook-Wickham (Charlie), Joan Handy with whom she lived, Jerry Kucharski (Ginny), and Daniel Cook. She has nine grandchildren and four step-grandchildren who all loved her dearly and a host of nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Helena’s Catholic Church on Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, Delaware at 12 noon on Friday, November 4th, where friends may call after 11am. Burial will follow at Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 601 E. 6th Street, Wilmington, Delaware, 19801.
