Ochie Griffin was the second child of three children born to the late Willie Rhodes Sr. and Ochie Thorton Rhodes in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Ochie attended the Norristown Area Public School System. In 1965 she met Samuel Griffin Sr., they fell in love and they were married on December 31st, 1966. Ochie and Samuel Griffin Sr. were married for 24 1/2 years until his death on June 14th, 2001. Ochie was also called Sis by her family, since she was named after her mother. Sis was a devoted wife, loving mom and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family. She loved her grandchildren very much! Ochie worked many jobs over the years, but the one she took the most pride in was being a housewife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, and music. Her favorite singer was Tyrone Davis. Ochie's favorite song by him was "Turning Point." She enjoyed eating Spaghetti and meatballs and ZEPS from Lou's. She prepared these favorite meals of hers on Fridays. Ochie was very much into fashion. Whenever she went out whether it was shopping or going to a party, Ochie was dressed to the Tee! Ochie believed in God and she knew his name was Jehovah. Many years ago, she studied the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses, but the last two years has been the best years of her life! Attending every meeting at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, greeting and meeting new friends and going to the many events and gatherings given by the witnesses. She enjoyed this until her sickness took full control of her mobility. Ochie was loved by many, especially the workers at Towne Manor West, Adult Daycare, Trans-net workers and the friends in Jehovah's organization. Ochie was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Griffin Sr., her grandson William Brian Griffin-Byrd, known as "Mann". She was also preceded in death by her brother Willie Rhodes, Jr., her sisters Mibira Rhodes-Hill and half sister Ida Cooper. Ochie leaves to mourn her two children, Samuel Griffin Jr. and his wife June, and William Brian Griffin. Four grandchildren Samuel Griffin III, Micah T. Griffin, Sonya Byrd, Candyce Jiggetts, all from Norristown, PA. She also leaves two half sisters, Minnie Mayo of North Carolina, and Christine Darion of Norristown, PA, two sisters-in-law, Ruby Culbreath and Vivian Griffin, also from Norristown, PA as well as a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
