Oliver Daniel Welch passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010 at Mercy Suburban Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. He was 83. Mr. Welch was a resident of Skippack, PA and former resident of King of Prussia, PA for 42 years. He was a retired accountant and served for 9 years as Tax Collector for Upper Merion Twp., retiring in 1997. Daniel previously worked for General Electric Co. and as a Fiscal Officer and Director of Accounting at the Methacton School District. He was a graduate of Bentley College of Accounting in Boston, MA. Daniel was a past president of the Valley Forge Optimist Club, past president of the former Upper Merion Cultural Center in King of Prussia, PA, the past Commander of the Swayze-Torrey American Legion Post in Dixfield, ME and the past treasurer of the Creekwood Village in Skippack, PA. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in WWII as a Naval Combat Air Crewman from 1945 to 1946.Born in Dixfield, ME on May 1, 1927, he was a son of the late Percival "Percy" D. and Emma R. (Dumas) Welch. Surviving are his loving family including his wife of 54 years, Phyllis (d'Entremont) Welch of Skippack, PA; two sons, Todd M. Welch and his wife, Gloria of Harleysville, PA and Jay R. Welch and his wife, Debra of Cut Bank, MT; a daughter, Leslie W. Ingram and her husband, Ronald of Sanatoga PA; 3 grandchildren: Nicholas, Matthew, & Jeremy; a brother, Ditson Welch of Dixfield, ME; and a nephew and a niece.Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11:00am. Friends may call Friday morning 10 to 10:50am, at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Daniel's memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
