Onorio G. 'Elmer' Scandone

Onorio G. "Elmer" Scandone passed away peacefully on Monday, January 3, 2011 at his residence in Bridgeport, PA. He was 84. Mr. Scandone worked as a forman for the Philadelphia Electric Co. in Plymouth Meeting, PA, until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA. Elmer was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1944 and a member of the VFW Post 840 in Bridgeport, PA. Mr. Scandone was a US Army veteran of WW II. He served as a Staff Sergeant from 1944 to 1946, in the European Theatre of Operations.Born in Bridgeport, PA on January 11, 1926, he was a son of the late Carmine C. Scandone, Sr. and Maria Grace (Sarni) Scandone. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 60 years, Philomena A. "Florence" (Muscarelli) Scandone; two sons, Carmen A. Scandone and his wife, Linda of Norristown, PA and Charles Scandone and his wife, Suzanne of Swedesburg, PA; a daughter, Diane Mason of Hatfield, PA; five grandchildren: Charles Jr. and his wife, Daina, Danielle, Amanda, David and Madeleine; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Gianna; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Ralph, Anthony, Salvatore, Carmen Jr. and Joseph and 2 sisters, Vera Mastercola and Margaret Mallace. Relatives & friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:30am. Elmer's viewing will be Friday morning from 9 to 10:20am, at the church. Interment in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elmer's memory to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405.
