Patricia Ann Shea Throm, 93, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Clinton Corners, New York, died on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born on April 1st, 1932 to William F Shea and Jane Shea (née Conlin). She lived at the family home on Dewey Street in Southwest Philadelphia until she married, and always retained a hint of her Philadelphia accent.
Pat graduated from John Bartram High School in January of 1950. She worked as a stenographer and secretary, first at Bailey Banks & Biddle, and then at the Navy Supply Depot, where she met her husband Bob. They married in 1954 and moved up and down the East Coast to his various duty stations in the Marine Corps.
She was a library and lunch room volunteer at Mother of Divine Providence School in King of Prussia. She could always be counted on to drive a carload of girls to after school activities all over suburbia. Later she reveled in being Mom Mom, regularly attending school events including baseball games, soccer matches and swim meets.
She had a muscle car phase, driving first a lemon yellow 1965 Mustang with white seats, then a dark green Ford Fairlane 500 and then a light blue Ford Gran Torino, all while wearing oversize Jackie O sunglasses.
She was a lifelong reader and loved crossword puzzles. When her vision declined, she switched to audible books, listening to mysteries from the library on her iPad. She was a wiz with her iPad. During the pandemic, she ordered delivery from Wegmans and mastered Facetime to keep in touch. She had email and kept a library of photos that she learned to crop and to send as cards.
Patricia was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Robert Baker Throm; her parents, William and Jane Shea; and her sisters, Genevieve Hitchner and Marguerite Black. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Kwasniewski (Tony) of Elkins Park, Pennsylvania; Kimberly Throm (Stephen Haggerty) of Clinton Corners, New York; Lindsay Throm (Philip Simon) of Vienna, Virginia; and Robert B. Throm II of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Anthony and Stephen Kwasniewski and Jackson T. and Connor T. Simon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also is survived by her life-long friend, Marilyn Previti from Dewey Street, and her canine buddies, Nelle and Vivian.
Services and burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
