Paul Knauer Sr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in E. Norriton, PA. He was 89. Mr. Knauer was a life-long resident of Norristown, PA. He worked as a custodian for the former American and Meridian Banks, both in Norristown, PA. Paul was a life member of the Hancock Fire Co. in Norristown. Mr. Knauer was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving from 1944 to 1946, in the European Theatre of Operations. He fought in the Ardennes and Rhinelands (the Battle of the Bulge). Born in Norristown, PA on July 1, 1923, he was a son of the late Marvin and Mary (Ford) Knauer. He was the husband of the late Shirley J. (Diehl) Knauer, who died in 2012. Surviving is his loving family including a daughter, Holly J. Knauer of Norristown, PA; four grandchildren: Brandy Fazio, Taylor and Kenneth Knauer, and Gregory Briggs; former daughter-in-law, Donna Benz; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Knauer, Jr.; three brothers: Charles, Marvin and Walter Knauer; and two sisters, Marion Austin and Helen Shellenberger.Relatives and friends are invited to Paul's Funeral Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 11:30 am. His viewing will be Friday morning from 10 to 11:20 am, at the funeral home.
