Peter (Pete) Pieri passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. Pete was born on May 24, 1945 in Upper Darby, PA to Albert and Emma Pieri.
Pete was raised in Springfield, PA and graduated from Springfield High School in 1963. He enlisted in the US Coast Guard immediately after graduating and served at posts in the US and Germany for five years. During his time in the Coast Guard, Pete developed his lifelong passion for the ocean, boating, and fishing.
After leaving the military, Pete joined the US Merchant Marine and spent almost six more years at sea. Most of that time he crewed oil tankers in the Atlantic Richfield fleet.
When his sea duties were complete, Pete used the electronic skills he learned in the Coast Guard to land a position at Xerox where he maintained a wide range of the duplicating and printing equipment made by the company. He remained with the company through retirement and was noted for his versatility and his ability to work with even the most complex products. Many of his coworkers remained life-long friends.
During his working life, Pete owned several boats that he kept berthed at a Cape May, New Jersey marina. His greatest joy in life was spending weekends and vacations on the water with family and friends. A special joy was spending a weekend on board with his beloved nephew David Pieri and David’s children.
His long-time service at sea allowed him to earn his captain’s license, and he frequently captained party boats on fishing outings. He also made use of his electronics experience to establish a small side business installing and repairing marine electronics on the boats at the marina.
As the years passed and age caught up, he retired from work and eventually sold his boat. But as was his habit, he reinvented himself by earning A+ Computer Skills certification and started a new small business installing computer networks and training new users. He found this especially satisfying because it allowed him to remain active and continue meeting new people.
Pete had a long and successful career and a fulfilling life doing the things he loved.
Family and friends are invited to Pete’s Memorial service on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 7pm-9pm with words of remembrance beginning at 8 pm at Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, 101 N Park Ave, Trooper, PA 19403.
