Philip Bradford Jones

August 26, 1957 — April 9, 2018

Philip Bradford (“Brad”) Jones, 60, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday April 9, 2018. He is the son of the late Dard W. Jones of Blue Bell PA and M. William Jones Jr. of Lancaster PA, and the stepson of Elizabeth Jones of Lancaster PA. He is also survived by three children, Paige Whitney, Emma Hollingsworth, and Max Bradford Blauer-Jones; partner Kate Steward; former wife, Gail Blauer; sister Carol Adaire Jones (John Pendergrass), brother M. William Jones III (Maureen), three nieces, Allison Jones (Jen Fish), Elizabeth Jones Martin (Cameron Martin) and Melissa Jones, and a grand-nephew; as well as by Diamond, his 10-year-old rescue dog, and Charlotte and Sharma, his 9-year-old rescue cats. He received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981 and his JD from The Delaware Law School of Widener University in 1986. Throughout his life, he valued being of service to others. In his legal career, he valued representing those who did not have a voice. He started practicing law in Texas as a plaintiffs' litigator for personal injury and workers' compensation cases. He shifted then to family law, representing children or adults in neglect/abuse cases, and adult adoptees in cases to unseal their adoption records. A pioneer in opening closed adoption records in Texas, he had many grateful clients who were able to achieve connection and closure around their adoption history. His second career was as a natural healer. Having received a degree in Shiatsu massage therapy and certification as a Reiki master, he used his intuitive skill to help clients improve their health and overall vigor. He was proud of having been inducted as a New Warrior Ritual Elder in The Mankind Project of Philadelphia. Funeral arrangements are private. Contributions in his memory to the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society are welcome.
