Phillip D Mehl

Phillip D. "Phil" Mehl, age 44, of Pottstown, Pa., unexpectedly passed away due to a major cardiovascular event on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pa. He was surrounded by loved ones and friends. Born in Milford, MA on Jan. 29, 1973 to Charles E. and the late Margaret M. (Kleaver) Mehl. Phil is survived by his loving girlfriend Alison Edwards, three older sisters, Margaret Wiszumerski (Gary), Patricia Hanson (Geoff), Regina Collins (Tom), and three older brothers, Charles III (Christina), Martin (Tara), John (Lisa). Phil was preceded in death by his brother George G. and his nephew Matthew. Phil attended Visitation B.V.M School, Trooper, Pa, and graduated in 1991 from Bishop Kendrick H.S., Norristown, Pa. He was a well regarded colleague who worked in various capacities in the local pharmaceutical industry, taking on roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as supervisor at Sodexo within the GSK site, Collegeville. Phil had such a warm, calm and gentle demeanor. He was completely non-judgmental, possessing the ability to put those around him at ease. A great sense of humor, he could always brighten the mood with his terrific one liners and wonderful laugh. Phil made time to help others out, mowing lawns, clearing driveways, or opening his home to friends needing a place to stay, and he made extra sure to always look after his parents. Though not a father himself, he was a fantastic uncle to his own nieces and nephews and to all his friends’ children. He looked forward to spending time with family and friends and took joy in organizing the annual family camping trip, where the emphasis was on enjoying the simple pleasure of time together surrounded by the beauty of nature. One of his favorite activities was fishing, where the peace and calm of water and nature was in perfect rhythm with the kindness and wisdom of his soul. To Phil, the only thing better than reeling in a fish was the joy of watching a friend catch one. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday July 17th from 9:00 to 10:45 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd. Norristown, Pa. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Phil’s memory may be made to Operation Backpack 238 High Street suite 103 & 104 Pottstown PA 19464.
