Raymond Stephen “Ray” Gutosky, 81, passed away on November 13, 2025, in Audubon, Pennsylvania. Born on February 8, 1944, in Sayre, Pennsylvania, Ray lived a life marked by service, dedication to his work, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors and family traditions. He grew up in Lopez, Pennsylvania and graduated from Turnpike High School of Mildred, Pennsylvania in 1962
In 1964, Ray answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Navy. He achieved the rank of ET1 while serving aboard the USS Enterprise (CVAN 65), where he worked as a nuclear propulsion plant operator. His time in the Navy reflected his strong sense of duty and technical skill. After his honorable discharge in 1969, Ray transitioned into civilian life with the same commitment and focus that had defined his military service.
For the next 45 years, Ray built a successful career in computer and mainframe technology. His work spanned decades of innovation and change in the field, and he remained dedicated to his profession throughout his long tenure.
Outside of work, Ray found joy in nature and sports. He especially cherished fishing trips—most notably his annual float down the Delaware River. These outings were more than just a pastime; they were a tradition that brought him peace and connection to the natural world. Ray also enjoyed playing golf and often competed in tournaments alongside his brothers, sharing both camaraderie and competition on the course. Hunting deer with his father during his younger years was another treasured activity that connected him to family roots and rural traditions.
Around the house, he could be found working on various home improvements. When not doing that he was perfectly trained by his three Jack Russell Terriers to play fetch, take them for walks, and anything else they deemed important to them.
A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, Ray followed his teams with unwavering loyalty through highs and lows. He was especially thrilled to witness the Eagles bring home two championships during his lifetime—a source of great pride and celebration.
Ray’s legacy lives on through those who knew him best. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years Ruth (Turner) Gutosky; sons Stephen Gutosky (and daughter-in-law Patrice) and Vincent Gutosky (and daughter-in-law Tonie); daughter Jennifer Gutosky ; granddaughter Alexandria Gutosky; grandson Vincent J. Gutosky; brothers Joseph Gutosky (and sister-in-law Sandy) and Ronald Gutosky (and sister-in-law Debbie).
He was preceded in death by his parents Adam R. Gutosky and Mary (Manchisi) Gutosky; brothers Francis Gutosky and Adam V. Gutosky; his first wife Ella Gutosky.
Ray’s life was one of quiet strength, enduring commitment, and meaningful connections—to family, to country, to work, and to the simple joys that made each day worthwhile.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
