Raymond Albert Martin, Sr.

August 17, 1940 — March 10, 2024

Raymond A. Martin

August 17, 1940 - March 10, 2024

Survived by his wife of 58 years Margaret (Peggy), Daughter Susan Loyden (spouse Joseph Loyden, deceased), grandsons Greg (Brittany) and Christopher Ostapchuk; Son Raymond A. Martin Jr., grandson Raymond A. Martin III(Tiffani), great-grandsons Johnathon, Logan and great granddaughter Lydia; Son-Joseph M. Martin, granddaughters Ashley (deceased), Courtney and Taylor Martin, and great grandson Thomas Dixon Jr. Also survived by his sister Madeline, Brother Francis (Franny) and sister-in-law Ruth, along with many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Raymond V. Martin and Alberta Martin.

Raymond grew up in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, where he met his wife Peggy, married and they moved to lower Port Richmond and started their family. Raymond went on to start his own iron-working business of wrought iron and light structural steel fabrication, and ran it for over 20 years. Upon retirement, he and Peggy moved to the Pocono Mountains, where he became President of the property owners association where they lived, and remained President, as a volunteer, for over 20 years.

Raymond was very proud of his wife and children, and loved them dearly. He enjoyed his grandchildren, and was very proud of the adults they became. His greatest joy was in seeing his sons become grandfathers, and watching the joy that grandchildren bring to a man. His wish is for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be healthy and live happy, successful lives. He will be missed so very much.
