Raymond F. Tenney, husband to Beverly for 63 years , father of four sons, grandfather of 8, Electrical Engineer, Eagles fanatic and friend passed away on Sunday, March 19 after his long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Brattleboro, VT on July, 15, 1931. Son of the late Raymond Tenney and Evelyn (Atwood) Tenney in Northfield, MA, he graduated from Greenfield High School in 1949 and from U Mass, Amherst in 1953 with an Electrical Engineering degree (Magna Cum Laude). He received an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from John Hopkins University in 1955 and did doctoral studies at Syracuse University. In 1953 he married Beverly Donovan of Greenfield, MA. Ray and Bev raised four sons, living in the same house in Audubon Pa for 57 years. Their sons; Ray and wife Betsey, Michael and wife Susan, Daniel and wife Lisa and Douglas and wife Lorraine. Ray was proud of his 8 grandchildren: Lauren (OR), Raymond (PA), Nathan (NH), Alex (PA), Analise (CT),Sarah (PA), Michelle (CT)and Katherine (NH). Raymond served 4 years in the USAF and 34 years with General Electric, retiring in 1992. During that period he was assigned various engineering, design and management positions, lastly as Chief Engineer for various successful missile and satellites such as Atlas, Discoverer and Minuteman III. His last assignment was as Chief Engineer on the Defense Satellite Communications System. During retirement Ray and Bev enjoyed 22 Elderhostels to places such as Ireland, St. Petersburg, Russia and Alaska. A memorial mass will be celebrated Friday, March 24 at 10:00 A.M., St. Theresa of Avila Church, 1260 S. Trooper Rd, Norristown, PA. Family will greet visitors at the church at 9:15 A.M. In Lieu of flowers, donations to St. Theresa's’ Outreach program, a non denominational program, directly benefiting local families in need.
