REVEREND JAMES J. MELLE 1944 - 2018 Reverend James J. Melle, Retired, died on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Father Melle was born on July 21, 1944, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Peter Melle and the late Carmella (Carfagno) Melle. He is also the brother of the late Peter Melle, Jr. (Ethel) andthe late Russell Melle. Father Melle attended Holy Saviour Parochial School, Norristown, and Bishop Kenrick High School, Norristown, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. He also attended Villanova University, Villanova Father Melle was ordained on May 20, 1972, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence, John Cardinal Krol. Father Melle served as Parochial Vicar at Saint James Parish, Elkins Park; Our Lady Help of Christians Parish, Abington; Annunciation B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Madeline Parish, Ridley Park; Assumption B.V.M. Parish, West Grove; Saint Mary Magdalen Parish, Media; and Saint Agnes Parish, West Chester. He also served on the faculty of Archbishop Wood Boys High School, Warminster; Bishop McDevitt High School, Wyncote, Archbishop Pendergast High School, Drexel Hill and Bishop Shanahan High School, Downingtown. He retired from active ministry in June, 2011 The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Helena Church, Blue Bell, on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 9:30 AM., followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Melle at Saint Helena Church, Blue Bell, on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Among those concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor Patrick E. Sweeney, Reverend Charles J. Noone, Reverend Joseph Brandt, Reverend Monsignor Aloysius R. Callaghan, St. Paul, MN, and Most Reverend Herbert A. Bevard, St. Thomas Virgin Islands, will be the homilist. . Father Melle is survived by his brothers: Anthony Melle (Mary Lou Carr) and Charles Melle (Susan Purtell) and many nieces and nephews. Services entrusted to Joseph J.
