Richard W. Bourbon. June 7, 1931 - September 12, 2017 Richard W. Bourbon of Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2017 from natural causes. Richard leaves behind his wife Barbara, his son William and wife Holly of Lutherville, Md., son Douglas and wife Debra and child Christian of East Norriton, Pa., son Erick and wife Pam with children Cole and Madison of Gloucester, Ma., son James and wife Cathryn with 2 daughter's Merrick and Charlotte of Savannah, Ga. Brother John of Easton, Maryland and Sisters Sandra of Hesgesville, WV and Barbara Of West Palm, Fla. He is predeceased by his brothers, James, Frank, Phillip, Robert, Raul and sisters Mary Louise, Jeanne and Lucia. Richard was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of late August James Bourbon and Gertrude Reilly Bourbon. Richard attended Gonzaga High school, Georgetown University (BS Poly Sci.) and University Michigan Law School (LLB). He started his career as assistant administrator For HUD in 1959, in Chicago, Ill. In 1963, moved to Philadelphia with HUD and worked with that agency until 1967. From 1967- 1988 Richard worked in the public and private sectors of real estate development and was president of Development services group, Jenkintown, Pa. In 1988, Richard became a practicing attorney in general law, with a concentration of Criminal defense and Immigration matters into retirement. Richard was very active in many religious and social organizations. He served as President of The Edge Hill Rotary club, Past president of the Jenkintown Library, past president of The Holy Redeemer advisory board, past president of the Toast Masters club of Fort Washington, Past president of the Ward seven civic association, Lieutenant Colonel USAF reserve, member British officers club of Philadelphia, Certified Construction arbitrator, American Arbitration Association, Certified Securities Arbitration Panel Chairman, New York Stock exchange, NASD, AMEX and Philadelphia stock exchange, and lector and greeter at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jenkintown. Richard Enjoyed traveling with family and friends, biking, Cross country skiing, handball, reading and dining. Richard will be remembered for his kind and easy going personality, along with his desire to interact with people of all ages and his ever present sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, former clients and the members of the organizations with whom he was involved! Family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday September 19, 2017 from 9-10:30 AM at the Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home 507 West Ave. Jenkintown, PA 19046. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday the 19th at 11 AM at Immaculate Conception BVM Church 602 West Ave. Jenkintown (across the street from the Funeral Home). There will be a Luncheon reception at the Abington Club immediately following Mass.
