Richard 'Dick' A. Doherty

Doherty Richard A., of Exton, PA formerly of Hatboro passed away on June 30, 2017. He was 90 years old. Born on March 21, 1927 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of Alexander and Gertrude (Zoerner) Doherty. Beloved husband of the late Theresa (Gourlay) Doherty for 59 years. Loving father of Pat (Mike) Rombola, Rich Doherty (Kiera) and Jeff Doherty (Dee). Devoted grandfather of Aimee, Michael, Drew, Bryan, Annie, Maggie, Jack and Patrick. Great-grandfather of Ryan and Maci. Dick was a graduate of Northeast High School and attended Penn State University and LaSalle College. He worked as a regional TELSAM Coordinator at Bell Atlantic/Verizon for 42 years before retiring in 1989. He enjoyed golf, casinos and lottery tickets and was a coach/empire of Upper Moreland Little League and the Willow Grove Midgets. Dick was a loyal parishioner of St. John Bosco Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Holy Name Society and Willow Grove Rotary. He was a talented artist and shared his talent with many organizations throughout his life. Whether it was drawing a poster for an event or pictures for his kids and grandchildren he was always ready with his pencils and markers. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 10-10:50 AM and funeral mass at 11AM both at St. John Bosco Church, 235 E County Line Rd., Hatboro, PA 1040. Interment at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
