Richard "Dick" Falcone

May 30, 1948 — July 7, 2016

Not long before Dick Falcone passed away, he said to his gathered friends that he was lucky to have such an incredible life. He grew up in a family that surrounded him with love, joy, and humor. At an early age his father taught him the wonders of the nature and a love for the sea. These values, along with an extended family and life-long friendships, made his life rich and full. Richard Louis Falcone of Wayne, PA and Long Beach Island, NJ, died peacefully at his home on July 7, 2016 at the age of 68. Dick is survived by Julie (Karcher), his beloved wife of 38 years; two children, Rick (Marty) Falcone and Courtney (Peter) Salveson; and two adored grandchildren, Madison and Owen. He was a centerpiece of a wonderful family that includes his sister, Carol (Ken) Fetter; brother, Tony Falcone; and his many nieces, nephews and their children. He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. Vincent and Mrs. Dora Falcone. He was born and raised in a house his parents built in Wayne, and later moved with his wife to a house that was built by his grandparents. The strong family ties that Dick and Julie instilled in their children have led them to remain local to raise their own families. Since 1957, Dick spent his summer weekends (and often fall, spring, and winter) on Long Beach Island, fishing, clamming, and crabbing with his countless friends. The shore house has always been and still remains the gathering point for the extended family. For almost as long, Dick and his family and friends have spent many weekends at the Millstone Lodge, in Bradford County, PA hunting and fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. His outgoing personality, love of life, and humor was only surpassed by his loyalty to those he cared about. In addition to his LBI and Millstone “families”, Dick will be missed by his “cousins”, colleagues at Ridg-U-Rak & Modern where he had a successful career in sales, and the other lives he has touched throughout the years. Dick was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary’s university in Emmitsburg, MD and of Radnor High School in Radnor, PA. He will always be remembered as a storyteller, and he now will live on through the many stories told about him by his family and friends. Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Dick’s life on Tuesday, July 12th, 2016 beside the pond at The Willows in Villanova, PA (490 Darby Paoli Rd.) at 11:00am. In Lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made in Dick’s name to support the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
