Richard M. 'Dick' Michaels

Richard M. "Dick" Michaels, Sr. passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Bryn Mawr Hospital after a brief illness. He was 75. Mr. Michaels was a resident of W. Norriton, PA. He worked as a driver and salesman for the former Kirchner Brothers Oil Co. in Philadelphia, PA and the former Wood Beverage in Edgemont, PA. Dick was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Norristown, PA. He was also a member of the Teamsters 107 and 830 in Philadelphia, PA. He was a past president of the Norristown High School Parents Football Association and past treasurer of the W. Norriton Little League. Dick enjoyed spending time in the Pocono's, cooking for family and friends, and going to the casinos. He was an avid sports fan but his favorite hobby was spending time with his grandchildren.Born in Dupont, PA on October 9, 1935, he was a son of the late Joseph and Sophie Michaels. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 49 years, Judith A. "Judy" (Cain) Michaels; two sons, Richard M. Michaels, Jr. and his wife, Beth of E. Norriton, PA and Bryan C. Michaels and his wife, Michele of Audubon, PA; three grandchildren: Lauren, Matthew and Nicole; a sister, Lorraine Campbell of Levittown, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph.Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd., Norristown, PA 19403 on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at 10:00am. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at the church. Interment will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America, 555 North Lane, Suite 5010, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
