Richard W. Norman, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2018, at his residence accompanied by his loving family. In his later years, he enjoyed the outdoors, walking, traveling, fishing, socializing, and dining at the Keystone. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and many friends. Richard was the son of the late John and Caroline (Polchlopek) Norman and grew up in Norristown, graduating from Norristown High School. He worked as a plumber’s apprentice before enlisting in the Navy. He was a Korean War Veteran serving on the USS Dyess and traveled the world. Following his discharge, he worked for PECO/Exelon as an electrical mechanic until his retirement. He was a founding member of Visitation BVM Church. He is survived by his brother, John, his three children, Richard, Carol, and Shirley; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen, to whom he was happily married for over 50 years, and his brother Edward. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 13th at 11:00 am at Visitation BVM Church in the lower church 196 N. Trooper Rd. Norristown, PA 19403. Friends may call on Friday morning from 9:45-10:45 am at the church. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in East Norriton, PA.
