Richard C. Piermatteo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at ManorCare Health Services in Lansdale, PA. He was 76. Mr. Piermatteo was a resident of Lansdale, PA. He worked as an electronic technician for Leeds and Northrup in North Wales, PA for 42 years. He was a member of Christ Old Swedes Church in Swedesburg, PA. Richard graduated from the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1952. He loved swimming, boating, old movies an classical music.Richard was a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was in Barnbridge, MD for basic training and Great Lakes, Ill for special training. He then served aboard the USS Tweedy and the USS Yellowstone as an Electricians Mate from 1952 to 1956. Born in Norristown, PA on December 19, 1933, he was a son of the late S. Joseph and Mae C. (Carlisle) Piermatteo. Surviving are his loving family including a brother, Joseph J. Piermatteo and his wife, Jean of Brooksville, Fl; a sister, Sandra A. Davis and her husband, Eugene of Gulph Mills, PA; three nephews, Michael Piermatteo and his wife, Donna, Stephen Piermatteo and his wife, Jessica and John Piermatteo; two nieces, Lori Veith and Kristen Clements and her husband, Clayton; and many great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Catherine A. "Kitty" (Shemar) Piermatteo. Funeral services and interment will be private at the request of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Richard's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Memorial Fund, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
