Richard F. Strosser, 95 Years Born: September 23, 1925 It is with great sadness that we the family of Richard F. Strosser announce his passing on March 5, 2021. He passed away at Abington Hospital after a battle with the Covid virus. Richard was a resident at Ann’s Choice in Warminster, PA. He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of 43 years, Catherine, and his children Mike husband of Shari, Kathleen wife of Mark Whaley, Mark husband of Melissa, Nancy Higgins, Annina Strosser, Duke husband of Fran, Karen wife of Bud Taylor, Andrew husband of Yvette, Joe husband of Carol, Maureen Higgins, Tim husband of Riki. The grandchildren are Cynthia Alosi, Anthony and Diane Strosser, Mary Bluemle and Bridgett Higgins, Lauren Darcy, Patrick Manili, Luke, Christopher, Thomas and Kelsey Strosser, Stephen and Shannon Strosser, Caitlin Skiles and Meghann O’Brien, Thomas and Zachary Strosser, Justin Mink and Jenna Strosser, Daniel Fleming and Olivia Herbstritt, Matt and Katie Strosser. There are also (11) great grandchildren. Richard was the son of the late Emil E. and Therese (Krallinger) Strosser Jr. who resided in Lancaster. He is preceded in death by his first wife Anne Strosser, his siblings Paul, Norman, Emil, Evelyn, and Therese Strosser and his son Mike Higgins. At age 16 in the year 1941 Richard left home to go to St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia but decided that a life in the priesthood was not the best way he could serve the Lord. In 1951 he became a member of the United States Army. He went to the Adjutant General School at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indiana where he learned stenography along with many other clerical skills, all of which would help him in his future as an educator. From there he went to Korea during the war and completed his tour of duty. Richard was well educated and was a candidate for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. He also studied at the University of Louvain in Belgium. Richard married his first wife Anne Regina Wick in 1956 in Belgium. They were married for 25 years and had seven children before his wife passed away in 1971. He spent the majority and almost all of his working career at LaSalle University in Philadelphia where he was a Professor of Philosophy, molding and educating young minds. Richard started at LaSalle in September of 1956 and retired in May of 1990. LaSalle which; is a Catholic establishment was a special place. In March of 1978 Richard married his loving second wife Catherine and they were married for 43 years on March 4, 2021. Catherine had five children of her own, Richard loved and cared for them as if they were his own. The two families were united. He really enjoyed gardening and was a self-taught repair man, he kept the house and the family running. His passion was for his family and his faith. Richard was the best example a son or daughter could ever have. He was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church. He was a devout follower of Christ. Through all of the difficult times his faith in our Lord never wavered. He will be missed dearly. Richard was a loving husband, father, and friend. He was extremely easy going and anybody could talk to him. His influence went well beyond just his family. He influenced many of the children’s friends in positive ways. Everybody always enjoyed talking to him. We Love you Dad; you will be missed. There will be a private service for the immediate family. Relative and friends can watch his graveside service live streamed around 10:00 AM On Saturday March 13. 2021.
