Rita M. Brennen

Rita M. (DeWan) Brennen passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Suburban Community Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. She was 98. Mrs. Brennen was a resident of the King Manor section of King of Prussia, PA. She was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1937. Rita worked as a department manager for the Sears & Roebuck Department Store. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and previously a member of the former St. Augustine R.C. Church, both in Bridgeport, PA. Rita was a cat lover, an avid reader, and she enjoyed flowers and the Cape May Beach. Born in Norristown, PA on April 2, 1919, she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Parkin) DeWan. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Brennen, who died in 2007. Surviving is her loving family including 2 daughters, Joan (Jim) Hughes of Absecon, NJ and Karen Brennen of King of Prussia, PA; 3 granddaughters: Susan (Tom) Ganard, Cynthia (Evan) Freely and Valerie (Matt) Kane; 8 great-grandchildren: Matthew (Kayte) Ganard, Colin, Ryan and Ethan Ganard, James and Kayla Freely, Jacob and Owen Kane; a great-great-granddaughter, Evelyn Ganard; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by a brother, John DeWan; a sister, Catherine Crooks; and a niece, Roseann McCormick. Relatives & friends are invited to Rita’s Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 120 Jefferson St., Bridgeport, PA on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11:00 am. Her viewing will be Tuesday morning from 10 to 10:50 am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rita’s memory to the Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, PA 19428.
