Robert P. Alderfer, Jr.

Robert P. Alderfer Jr., “Bob”, or better known as “Pop Paw” to many, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 31, 2017, at his residence in Bridgeport, PA. He was 71. Bob worked in the maintenance department at Arkema for over 15 years. He also worked in the maintenance department for Georgetown Retirement Community, where his outgoing personality and caring heart made many lifelong friends. He was a United States Marine veteran of the Vietnam Era, where he served for almost 2 years. Bob’s courageous efforts earned him a Purple Heart, after which he was honorably discharged. Born in Norristown, PA on April 19, 1946, he was the son of the late Robert P. Sr. and Antoinette (Ciccarine) Alderfer. He attended Methacton High School and was the first graduating class of 1964. Throughout the years, Bob remained close to many of his grade school and high school friends. Whether it be a text, phone call or message on Facebook, he always made sure that he was there to give advice when needed or be an extra set of ears to listen. Bob was known to be very knowledgeable with Facebook, where he shared his comical political beliefs and strong opinions. He was the husband of the late Wilma B. (Price) Alderfer. Surviving is his loving family including 3 sons: Robert P. Alderfer, III and his wife, Tracy, of New Berlinville, PA, Kevin W. Alderfer and his wife, Toni, of Skippack, PA and Eric B. Alderfer of Bridgeport, PA; 8 grandchildren: Theresa, Jennifer, Joshua, Ryan, Jessica, Eric Jr., Sarah Ellen and Michael; 2 great-grandchildren, Tala and Shane; a sister, Shirley Ann Alderfer of Norristown, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Bob’s Memorial Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 Dekalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 11:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 9 to 10:50 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to the Susan G.
