Gabage

Robert, 84, of Glenside, passed suddenly on February 3, 2024. Beloved husband of 64 years to Phyllis Ann Gabage (Livezey).

The son of the late Sante Gabage and Christine (Ferri) Gabage, he was preceded in death by his son Robert George Gabage (Margie Quinn), brothers Victor Gabage (Mary Labate) and Carlo Gabage (Antonietta Guglielmetti), and sister Mary (Ferri) Bonner (Jack).

Robert, as a young boy, enjoyed playing basketball and other sports at Happy Hollow Playground in Germantown, Philadelphia, and proudly paid his way through La Salle College High School, Philadelphia. As a young man, he enjoyed working as a master stonemason, setter, and bricklayer as well as a master butcher. Due to an outstanding work ethic and excellent foundation in the food industry, he enjoyed working for Kansas Beef Industries, Keystone Foods, Excel, and Cargill, Inc. He retired in 2006.

As a father of six, he enjoyed a traditional annual vacation to Ocean City, New Jersey, as well as coaching basketball and mentoring youth through the Cub Scouts Pack 301. In his retirement, he enjoyed attending church, gardening, cooking, baking, golfing, and working with fellow parishioners at Immaculate Conception Church in fundraising events such as the annual parish golf outing. Robert and his wife Phyllis also enjoyed the relationships they developed in the Wilmington Diocese and in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his sons Keith E. Gabage, Thomas F. Gabage (Sherrie Hyams), Paul R. Gabage (Mary Jo Ott), the Very Reverend John B. Gabage, Vicar Forane, and daughter Catherine C. (Gabage) Kelly (Kevin Kelly); his grandchildren Jessica Smith (Andrew Smith), Robert Gabage, Melanie Gibbons (Patrick Gibbons), Alison Ringlstatter (Max Ringlstatter), Michael Gabage, Robin Gabage, Kayla Gabage, Raegan Gabage, Shannon Kelly, and Kevin Kelly; and his great grandchildren Winter Smith, Jameson Gibbons, and Maeve Gibbons, all of whom he greatly loved and cherished.
