Robert “Bob” E. Himes Sr., 77, of Panama City, Florida passed away on Thursday, June 18th, 2015. Born in Norristown, PA, he was the son of the late Edward and Magarite (Benninghove) Himes. He is survived by his wife, Carole (Bailey) Himes, with whom he shared 56 loving years of marriage. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Robert E. Himes II and wife Lisa, Philip D. Himes and wife Summer and son-in-law Carl Graffeo. Also he left behind six Grandchildren: Stephen and Daniel Furman, Sarah and Robert Himes III, Philip II and Daniel Himes, and one Great Grandchild, Daniel Furman Jr. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Y. Graffeo. Bob “Old Goat” Himes served in the Air force as an investigator for the OSI. During his 23 years of service, he and his family enjoyed their various assignments living in such interesting places as Bermuda, Florida, Michigan, the Philippines and Virginia. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as an investigator for the State of Pennsylvania. He then retired to enjoy life with his wife Carole in Panama City FL, and resided there for 28 years. He kept busy in retirement as Secretary and Treasurer of the International Stills Disease Foundation. He also enjoyed the outdoors fishing and shooting at the range. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and B.A.S.S., and past President of the Lower Providence Rod and Gun Club. He thoroughly enjoyed his family and kept up with their many interests. The Viewing will be held from 10 to 11 AM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home, 101 N. Park Ave. (Rt. 363 Trooper), Norristown, Pa. followed by a funeral service at 11 AM. Interment and military honors will follow at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia.
