Robert John Lowe, 86, of Georgetown, Delaware passed away peacefully on November 1, 2020 after a short illness. He was born on September 13, 1934 in Dover, New Jersey, the son of the late John and Agnes (Sullivan) and the oldest of 3 children. He graduated from Dover High School and served in the U.S. Air Force 1956 to 1960. After discharge, he worked in construction until joining the Erie Lackawanna Railroad in 1970. He retired from NJ Transit in 2000 but retained his beloved friends on the railroad. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, a current member of the Elks and a past member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his family and friends who had the pleasure of accompanying him through his many adventures. Whether it was celebrating each other’s accomplishments and milestones or on his travels to Hawaii, Aruba, Las Vegas and cruising, it was sure to be a memory that is treasured. He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years, Marion Lowe, son Robert Lowe, Jr. (Patsy), daughter Deborah Guerrierie (Robert), son Thomas Lowe (Cathi Fenske), son Ernie Smith (Cindy), son Brian Smith (Jan), daughter Denise Collins (Al), daughter Diane Zhelesnik (Mark), son Morty Smith, 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, brother John Lowe (Joan), sister Carole Thomson and many nieces and nephews. A service is planned at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church Wharton/Dover, NJ on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to “Home of the Brave” (housing for veterans). 6632 Sharps Road Milford, DE 19963
