Robert "Whitey" Emerson Erickson

April 6, 1948 — August 6, 2021

Robert “Whitey” Emerson Erickson, age 73 passed away on August 6, 2021, in Wilmington, DE, following a brief yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a 1966 graduate of P.S. duPont High School in Wilmington, Delaware, a member of the Varsity football team and Delta Phi Fraternity. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Korea during the Vietnam War. In his younger years, he was happiest with a cold beer in his hand and a tin of chewing tobacco in his pocket while casting a fishing line into the waves of the Outer Banks. Upon his retirement from AstraZeneca, Bob traveled and called the Philippines home for a brief period of time. He was a generous man who loved to cook and was a perfectionist when it came to sharing his bounty of amazing bread recipes with family and friends. Bob believed there were a few things in life one could never have enough of: Santa figurines, saute pans, and Chiclets! Bob is survived by his two adult children, Kristin (Tom) Pidgeon and Brian (Meghan) Erickson. He was known by many names, including Dad, Bob, Whitey, and Robert, but he was most proud of being called Pop-Pop by his seven Grandchildren; Aliza, Trevor, Reid, Ella, Finn, Maeve, and Quinn. He enjoyed being a part of all their accomplishments, birthdays, and celebrations. A private service for family and friends will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE on September 13, 2021 at 2pm.
