Rogers Joseph Frassenei, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Slickville, PA, on September 9, 1934. He graduated from Saltsburg High School, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University, and earned his Master’s degree from Temple University. He also served nearly 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Rogers was a positive and memorable influence for thousands of students, enjoying nearly 40 years as a teacher, guidance counselor, and coach in the Curwensville, Clearfield, Hatboro-Horsham, and Lower Merion school districts.
A remarkable football and baseball player himself, he was inducted into the Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame in 1998. In recognition of his coaching, he was inducted into the Lower Merion Football Hall of Fame in 2014. In addition, Rogers—alongside his entire Hatboro-Horsham 1970 and 1971 championship football teams—was inducted to the school’s Athletic Wall of Fame in 2019. Even as he approached his final days, he continued to maintain long-standing relationships with his fellow coaches and players.
He spent the last 10 years of his life at Shannondell in Audubon, PA, building meaningful friendships, fiercely competing in their billiards league, and tending his garden. He thoroughly enjoyed the sun and sand of Ocean City, NJ, and was blessed with opportunities to hike, bike, and cruise throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Rogers was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Maria (DePaoli) Frassenei; his first wife, Nancy (Taylor); and his sister, Ines (Frassenei) Stevenson. He’s survived by his second wife, Jane (Scheifele Herwig); his brother, Dino (Maxine) Frassenei; his children, Joseph (Christine), Angela (Michael) Miller, Michael (Mary), Vincent (Gayle), Jamie (Bernard) Cornali, and Julie (David) Hinkle; and his stepsons, Richard (Kathleen) Herwig and Bruce (Heather) Herwig. He was also an extremely proud grandfather to Carolyn, Lauren, Andrew, Michael, Cara, Isabella, Nicholas, Bernard, Sean, Cleo, John, Matthew, William, Anna, and Emma; great-grandfather to Carter and Luke; and devoted uncle, cousin, and brother-in-law.
Rogers’ family will receive relatives and friends from 9-11 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 2725 Egypt Road, Audubon, PA. His funeral service will follow immediately after. Rogers’ burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rogers’ memory to The Foundation at Shannondell at 10000 Shannondell Drive, Audubon, PA 19403 (610-728-5202) or to Bucknell University’s Gridiron Club Football Supporters.
