Roland G. 'Ron' Thomas

Roland G. "Ron" Thomas passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Mercy Suburban Hospital in E. Norriton, PA. He was 76.Mr. Thomas was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He worked as an inventory specialist for Abbott Labs in King of Prussia, PA for 35 years, until his retirement in 1990. Ron was very active after his retirement; he participated in a volleyball league, was an avid swimmer, and traveled the world with his wife, Barbara. He was also a member of the Upper Main Line Y Senior Bridge Club. He served state side in the National Guard.Born in Jersey City, NJ on August 26, 1935, he was a son of the late Henry Rowland Thomas and Theresa (Merkens) Thomas. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 52 years, Barbara A. (Nichols) Thomas; 2 sons, Roy D. Thomas of Glenmore, PA and Keith A. Thomas and his wife, Sarah, of Auston, TX; 1 granddaughter, May L. Thomas; 2 brothers, Charles F. Reed and his wife, Trudy, of Kennett Square, PA and Richard G. Thomas and his wife, Pat, of Forked River, NJ; his mother-in-law, Illyf Nichols of Marlton, NJ; and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services and interment will be private at the request of the family.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory to the Humane Society of PA/SPCA, 350 E.
